Four people were arrested because they were suspected of murder. It was after a man was hacked to death with a machete.
The police were called to respond to an incident on Whitehawk Road at 2:30 pm yesterday.
One witness of the incident claimed they saw a man come out of the house, and it looked like he got whacked over the head.
The victim was then taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital and pronounced dead a few hours later. He was in his 20s.
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Geldart from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team stated their thoughts are with the victim and his family at this hard time.
He claimed that it appears to be an isolated incident, and they have four suspects that are in custody. They are currently not seeking anyone else in connection with the killing.
Geldart mentioned it was a fast-moving investigation and cautioned people from speculating on social media.
He did finish by encouraging anyone with relevant information to contact the authorities.
It is not the only significant incident that has happened in the area, though the cases were largely unrelated.
The bodies of four family members were found dead in residence in West Sussex.
The bodies included that of Kelly Fitzgibbons, Robert Needham, and their children, Ava and Lexi.
The body of the pet dog was also found in the house, along with the family members.
According to district councilor, Roy Briscoe, who also happened to be one of the residents, they lived in the same lane.
Chief Superintendent Westerman claimed it was a hard situation to have to deal with, especially considering there were children that were killed in the process.
Policy family liaison officers were deployed to support the family while detectives did a house to house inquiry of the matter. They also spoke to witnesses and carried out an investigation.
They are speaking to the family, to understand what went on. The objective is to get a sense of how they reached such a point.
Such incidents have not been as prevalent within the Brighton area hence the anxiety among the residents.
Police have claimed they are looking into the matters but have emphasized they are not related.
