A Las Vegas news anchor was arrested last month after she was found naked and passed out inside her car, police said Tuesday.

Fox 5 Las Vegas early morning weekday anchor Feven Kiflegiorgis, also known as Feven Kay, was arrested at approximately 7:30 a.m. on March 20 after she was found naked and asleep behind the wheel of her parked Audi, the Last Vegas Review-Journal reported, citing a report from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Kiflegiorgis was parked in the travel lane on Matthew Avenue, near Paradise Road and East Windmill Lane, when she was found, police said. She reportedly told police she had no recollection of how she arrived on Matthew Avenue, and stumbled out of her car.

Police said officers reported a distinct smell of alcohol coming from Kiflegiorgis but she declined to submit her blood for testing. She was charged with reckless driving with a disregard for the safety of a person or property and sentenced on April 21 to a $1,000 fine and driving school.

Kiflegiorgis, an East Africa native who grew up in California, mentioned her weeks-long absence from Fox 5 in a message aired on the station last week, the New York Post reported.

"Many of you have noticed I've been off air for a few weeks. To all of you who reached out, a sincere thank you for your concern," she told viewers.

Kiflegiorgis said she wanted "to be transparent" even though she was "dealing with a private matter."

"Last month, I was arrested by Metro for driving under the influence. At the time of the arrest, I was inside of a parked vehicle in a Las Vegas neighborhood alone," the news anchor explained.

Kiflegiorgis pointed out that the charge against her was reduced to misdemeanor reckless driving.

"As I move forward, I want you to know I have learned from this. And I will continue learning. And I truly thank you for your support," Kiflegiorgis said.
