Fox’s ‘Rent: Live’: Meet The Musical’s 2019 Cast
The latest live TV musical arrives Sunday night on Fox when “Rent: Live” airs at 8 p.m. EST.
There have been countless stage productions put on over the years of the show, as well as a 2005 film adaption, but now fans of the musical, which is about a group of struggling young New York City artists, are getting yet another version.
Before it all goes down, though, get to know the cast members portraying all of your favorite characters.
Jordan Fisher as Mark Cohen
Having been in Disney Channel’s “Teen Beach Movie” franchise, as well as Fox’s “Grease Live!” in 2016, Fisher’s no stranger to TV musicals.
Brennin Hunt as Roger Davis
In 2011, Hunt competed on the U.S. version of “The X Factor,” and he was on a 2015 episode of “Nashville.”
Tinashe as Mimi Marquez
She was part of the girl group The Stunners for a few years before they split and Tinashe began her solo career. She dropped her debut project in 2014 and released her latest album, “Joyride” in 2018.
Brandon Victor Dixon as Tom Collins
He played Judas in “Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert” last year and has been portraying the character of Terry Silver on “Power” since 2017.
Valentina as Angel Dumott Schunard
She was a contestant on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” in 2014 and on “RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars” in 2018. She was also on an episode of “America’s Next Top Model” that same year.
Vanessa Hudgens as Maureen Johnson
After making a name for herself in Disney’s “High School Musical” movies, Hudgens released a couple of her own albums and then starred in films like “Bandslam,” “Beastly,” “The Princess Switch” and “Second Act.” She also performed on Broadway in “Gigi” and was part of Fox’s “Grease Live!”
Kiersey Clemons as Joanne Jefferson
She played Kira Starr on Disney’s “Austin & Ally,” Sky Sailor in the DCOM “Cloud 9” and Sophia in MTV’s short-lived series, “Eye Candy.” Clemons also starred in “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” and “Hearts Beat Loud.”
Mario as Benjamin Coffin III
Aside from having roles in “Step Up” and “Freedom Writers” and on Fox’s “Empire,” Mario’s also put out five studio albums, including last year’s “Dancing Shadows.” His most popular song, “Let Me Love You,” came out in 2004.
Keala Settle as Soloist
The “Greatest Showman” star is joining the cast of this musical for a special performance of “Seasons of Love.”
Catch all of these stars when “Rent: Live” airs on Fox on Sunday at 8 p.m. EST.
