François Pinault has a net worth of $57 billion. The husband of actress Salma Hayek built his massive fortune by managing high-end fashion brands.

Pinault is the chairman and CEO of Kering which owns several luxury brands such as Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen and Gucci. Kering promises sustainability in its process which means that the group will only source from farms that treat animals fairly. Environment activists sound alarm over the production of luxury goods as it pushes the carbon emissions up and unjust treatment of animals raised for materials.

Kering Group started as a wood and building materials company, per Forbes. Under Pinault’s leadership, the company pivoted its focus to luxury goods after it acquired a controlling stake in Gucci in 1999. Since then, Kering began establishing its name in the luxury goods industry.

Kering acquired Volcom in 2011 for $600 million but in 2019, it sold the skate brand to Authentic Brands Group (ABG) for an unknown amount. This move was followed by the Kering Group reducing its stake in sports lifestyle brand Puma in 2018 amid shifting focus on just luxury brands.

The 58-year-old billionaire is an avid art collector and some of the pieces he treasures carry massive price tags. His collection of more than 3,000 art pieces feature the works of Picasso, Mondrian and Koons. According to ¡Hola!, aside from leading Kering, Pinault and his family also own Christie’s, which is a known auction house. The Kering Group recorded €15.9 billion revenue in 2019, which was led by Gucci’s €9.6 billion revenue in that year.

Pinault’s rise in the company was not easy. He started in 1987 and became a manager a year after. He only became the company’s CEO in 2005, as per Celebrity Net Worth. The Rennes, France native married Hollywood actress Salma Hayek in 2009. The power couple has a daughter, Valentina Pinault, while Pinault has three other children from two previous relationships.

Hayek is mostly known for starring in films such as “Frida,” “Desperado,” “After the Sunset” and “Once Upon A Time in Mexico,” among others. She earned an Academy Award Best Actress nomination and Golden Globes nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama for her performance in “Frida.”
