Microsoft is opening the doors of its Xbox LIVE to have a free access to Live Gold functionality for players of Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV.

This special feature is aimed to re-ignite interest for players of the original title but mainly due to the upcoming release of the DLC pack ' The Lost and Damned' at no cost.

Grand Theft Auto IV: Upcoming expansion of the Lost and Damned officially launches on February 17 at 12:01 A.M. ET, and the promotion lasts until February 22, at 11:59 P.M. ET.

There will be a number of events happening on XBL next week, as well, including an opportunity to play the game online with members of the development team at Rockstar Games, this is to celebrate this unprecedented events.

Events will be filled with sweepstakes, an Xbox All-Nighter, and a GamerchiX Ladies Night and a grand prize of a Samsung 52-inch 1080p LCD high-definition television and a Samsung 1200W 5.1 XM-Ready home theatre system with an up-converting DVD player to name a few.
