Freeform’s fantasy-drama series “Beyond,” which aired its 10-episode first season in 2017, is back for Season 2 with a two-episode premiere on Thursday. It’s been about a year since the Season 1 finale, titled “Into the Light,” which means fans both have had a lot of time to ponder all that happened and plenty of months to forget it all. If you’re part of the latter, here’s a little recap of how it all ended.

The last episode started off with a lot of conflict, as Holden (Burkely Duffield) and Frost (Martin Donovan) searched through the realm to find Willa (Dilan Gwyn), who was hell-bent on killing Frost, her father. The only reason she decided not to is because then Hollow Sky would kill Luke (Jonathan Whitesell). There were a lot of chess pieces in play during this finale, but Holden and Willa were able to come out of it all victorious, maybe.

The three of them needed to get to the Ocean of Light and were looking for the Bridge to get there, but when they couldn’t find it it, they realized they needed Holden’s powers to make it appear. Once it did, Frost saw his dead wife on the other side and rushed to her, kissed her and then realized it was actually an unknown creature who had masked itself.

When Holden and Willa see that there are many other monsters coming out on the other side of the Bridge, Willa tells him to destroy it so that they can’t come over. He’s hesitant to do so because he had a vision that Willa would fall over the edge with no contraption there to save her, but she convinces him to do it anyway.

It seemingly ended up working out, and they both awakened from their comas out in the real world and were able to return to their normal lives. However, that only left Holden wondering what exactly he wanted from a normal life after all that’s happened. Plus, he’s not so sure all is well and good because he had a dream that brought him back into the destroyed realm and was face-to-face with a younger version of himself who said he had to fix it all.

“Meanwhile, Diane (Romy Rosemont) is asked to make a huge sacrifice to further the investigation into Hollow Sky, one that doesn’t sit well with Tom (Michael McGrady), and Charlie (Eden Brolin) reappears hiding a secret, and acting on orders from Yellow Jacket (Peter Kelamis),” the official synopsis reveals.

Viewers will only have to wait until the end credits of that episode before the next one, titled “Cheers, [expletive],” begins, and they get a few more answers, as well as a lot more questions.

“Willa shows up unexpectedly at the Matthews house for an uncomfortable ‘meet the family’ dinner,” the episode synopsis stars. “Willa struggles with trying to convince Arthur (Alex Diakun) to let go of the Realm, while she and Holden try to navigate their relationship. Meanwhile, Charlie learns some surprising secrets during an unauthorized house call — at Yellow Jacket’s request.”
