‘Friday The 13th’ Reboot Movie: Everything We Know About The 2017 Sequel So Far
It’s been eight long years since horror movie fans have gotten a new slasher flick starring the evil Jason Voorhees, but that will soon change. This October, producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller will release the thirteenth “Friday the 13th” film.
Although the movie is still months away from hitting theaters, a few details about the project have been released, giving fans a glimpse at what they can expect when Jason returns to wreak havoc on his unlucky victims.
Check out everything you need to know about the 2017 “Friday The 13th” sequel.
Filming Will Begin Soon
There isn’t a lot of information about production, but according to an October 2016 report by MoviePilot, filming for the “Friday the 13th” reboot is set to begin this spring in Atlanta.
Jason Is Going To Be Brutal
Fuller told Variety that the movie will be rated a “hard R,” meaning fans should expect to see a lot of bloody deaths. In fact, Fuller said Jason will be “unrelenting” this time around.
It Won’t Be A ‘Found-Footage’ Angle
Fuller and Form said they know fans were outraged when it was rumored the new Jason movie would be shot from a “found-footage” angle, so they scrapped that idea. Instead the sequel will be told from Jason’s perspective.
“No, Jason is a POV movie. So, it was very hard to wrap our head around how you would do a Friday the 13th that was found footage, knowing that we really need the Jason perspective of watching,” they told Collider.
You’ll Love The Characters
So far, the cast hasn’t been announced, but Fuller and Form promised that viewers will develop close bonds with the characters who become Jason’s victims. Fuller explained to Variety that the victims won’t just be “meat for Jason to butcher.” He added: “These are real characters which will hopefully make the bond with the audience that much stronger because you really care about the people in this film.”
Get Ready To Meet Jason’s Family
If you’ve ever wanted to know more about Jason and his family, then this sequel is for you. According to Yahoo! viewers will learn more about Jason’s mom, Pamela, and his long lost father, Elias.
“We’re going to meet the family,” Form said. “You’re gonna meet Pamela, Elias and Jason. And you’re gonna see how it all happened.”
Any Horror Movie Lover Can Watch
Even if you’ve never seen a “Friday the 13th” movie, you can still check out the upcoming reboot. The producers said they worked hard to make sure this was the perfect movie for die-hard Jason fans, but also those people who are new to the franchise.
“If you haven’t seen any of the other ones, you can still come and see this one and love it and not feel like you’ve miss out on anything,” the producers told Collider. “And if you have seen the other ones, we want this to feel fresh. That’s what took the longest amount of time: coming up with a story and then executing a script that fulfills both those mandates.”
The “Friday the 13th” sequel will hit theaters on Oct. 13, 2017.
