Jennifer Aniston stunned the world after confirming the news of a “Friends” reunion on social media. Reports also claimed that the cast members would be getting $2.5 million apiece for being part of the special at HBO Max. But it seems the studio has bigger plans for the iconic TV sitcom.

According to The Sun, a source has revealed that the makers are planning to make it a 12-part series since all the cast members have been made to sign a “non-disclosure” agreement to keep things exciting for the fans. But as of late, the deal has been signed-off for just one episode.

The insider also revealed that the reunion was 18 months in the making and the makers had to convince Aniston and Matthew Perry a lot for the one-off special.

“This reunion has been 18 months in the making. Cast and crew have been made to sign no-disclosure agreements to keep everything as fresh and exciting as possible. It took a long time to convince Matthew and Jennifer, in particular, to get on board,” the source said.

All the original cast members – Aniston, Perry, Lisa Kudrow, David Scwhimmer, Courteney Cox, and Matt LeBlanc – will return for the “unscripted” special.

The original series started in the year 1995 and ran for ten seasons. Those ten seasons had a total of 236 episodes. Seven out of ten seasons consisted of 24 episodes each while two seasons ran for 25 episodes each. On the other hand, the final season only had 18 episodes.

The last episode aired on May 6, 2004 and attracted an eye-popping 52.5 million viewers. It is still one of the most-viewed series finales of all time.

“Friends” chronicles the journey of six people — Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler, Joey, and Ross - living in the heart of New York. Over the course of ten years, the group of buddies goes through gigantic mayhem, family troubles, past and future romances, laughs, tears, fights and surprises as they learn what it really means to be friends.

The show has won six Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series in 2002. Aniston won a Golden Globe (2003) and an Emmy Award (2002) for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series.
