It seems like “The One With The Reunion” could be happening really soon.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a “Friends” reunion is reportedly in the works at HBO’s upcoming streaming service, HBO Max. A source told the publication that the reunion will be an unscripted one. It is still unclear if all the cast members will be playing their characters in the reunion or they will be reuniting to talk about the hit TV show.

The source further stated that the network is trying to get all the original cast members for the special. The original cast included Courteney Cox (Monica), Jennifer Aniston (Rachel), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe), Matthew Perry (Chandler), Matt LeBlanc (Joey) and David Schwimmer (Ross).

It is also being reported that the original creators of the series, David Crane and Marta Kauffman, will also be attached to the project. But the deals are still to be finalized and if everything works out well, then it would all depend on the busy schedules of the actors.

The news of the “Friends” special comes after Aniston recently spoke about the possibility of a reboot while making an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

“We would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is. So we are just trying. We are working on something,” Aniston said.

Sources also noted that WarnerMedia Entertainment and direct-to-consumer chairman Bob Greenblatt is responsible for the reunion since he thinks that it will add a lot of customers to the service. Meanwhile, insiders also claimed that the cast members are willing to do it.

“Friends” chronicles the journey of six people — Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler, Joey, and Ross - living off of one another in the heart of New York. Over the course of ten years, the group of buddies goes through gigantic mayhem, family troubles, past and future romances, laughs, tears, fights and surprises as they learn what it really means to be friends.

The original series ran for ten seasons and a total of 236 episodes from 1994–2004. The show has won six Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series in 2002. Aniston won a Golden Globe (2003) and an Emmy Award (2002) for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series.

The series finale attracted an eye-popping 52.5 million viewers and is still one of the most-viewed series finales of all time.
