'Friends': What You Should Know About The Upcoming 'Friendsgiving' Episodes
“Friends” in Thanksgiving —finally!
There won’t be any spoiler alerts here for die-hard fans of “Friends” because for sure, they have already seen each of the NBC sitcom’s episode. The upcoming screening is basically re-living these precious moments only in theaters. It will be a different story though for those who have just started watching the series. Rest assured that this is just an overview of what’s coming.
Without further ado, here some need-to-know things about the upcoming “Friends’” Thanksgiving episodes.
Eight classic “Friends” Thanksgiving episodes will hit 700 movie theaters all over the United States, all remastered in 4K resolution o Nov. 24 and 25, CNN reported. This special 2-day screening will showcase 4 episodes per day.
Tickets will be available on Friday at Fathom Events so might hurry up and grab yours before it runs out.
Day 1 will start at 7p.m., while day 2 will begin at 4p.m. + 7p.m. (local time). The website noted that episodes and the order of the same are subject to change.
Lisa Gregorian, Warner Bros. Television Group President and Chief Marketing Officer, said in a statement published at Fathom Events’ website that this event would provide an opportunity for “Friends” fans to enjoy a shared viewing experience. It is their hope that fans would celebrate Thanksgiving with these “Friendsgiving” episodes.
The concept of “Friends” Thanksgiving episodes stemmed from the fans who showed up in full support for the sitcom’s initial screenings. That was when “Friends” celebrated its 25th year. Ray Nutt, Fathom Events CEO, said they knew there would be a demand for more; hence, these upcoming 8 classic episodes on big screens.
Back in September, “Friends 25th: The One With The Anniversary” received an overwhelming response from fans. More than 230,000 went to the movie theaters nationwide to show their support for the show that once filled their television screens. That resulted to a gross income of $2.9 million, give or take, across the 3-night celebration which made it the second highest grossing cinema release in the U.S. as of 2019.
The 10-season run of “Friends” bagged them a couple of awards, including an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series. Even after 25 years, fans of “Friends” are still passionate about the characters.
Since “Friends” are still hitting the headlines even nowadays, teenagers who haven’t been born yet when the show ran are now starting to get curious about it. Some even decided to watch re-runs on Netflix.
However, back in July, the Hollywood Reporter published an article that the sitcom would leave Netflix and move to WarnerMedia’s streaming device. For those who have not seen any “Friends” episodes yet, you may view them at HBO Max.
