'Frozen Fever' Spoilers: Where Can You Watch It? New Pictures, Plot Details Revealed
“Frozen” might not be getting the sequel that Idina Menzel (the voice of Elsa) is hoping for, but it is getting a follow-up. “Frozen Fever” is a short that will be shown in theaters before the live-action “Cinderella” film. While a 7-minute flick might not be enough to satisfy fans, it will leave them singing along for days.
The short will include a new song from Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the duo who won an Oscar for the 2013 Disney animinated film's single “Let It Go.” Josh Gad (Olaf) warned that it might be just as catchy as the Academy Award-winning tune. "If history is any indicator, kids will go nuts," Gad told USA Today.
The "Frozen" short will focus on Anna’s (Kristen Bell) birthday. Elsa and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) will plan a birthday party for her, but things will go wrong once Elsa gets a cold. The powerful queen doesn’t exactly have a normal cold. "Elsa doesn't get a cold in the usual way," director Jennifer Lee said. "She's special. Surprising things occur that wreak a little havoc."
In new stills from “Frozen Fever,” fans can see Anna’s summer birthday party, Olaf getting into her cake, a goofy family portrait (with Kristoff, Sven and Olaf, of course). Also included are new stills of Elsa and Anna together, one of which shows off Elsa’s new green dress.
“Frozen Fever” might not be the last "Frozen" fans see of the Snow Queen. It seems the cast doesn’t want this short to be the end. “I’ve seen it and it’s very, very cute, and there’s new music in it which is always going to be fun for everyone,” Kristen Bell told PopSugar in the fall. “But yeah, I really hope they do a sequel.”
“Cinderella” hits U.S. theaters on March 13.
