Former Congresswoman and presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard lashed out against Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss, calling him "ignorant and sadistic," for his statement that the U.S. "doesn't rule out nuclear action" against Russia in defense of Ukraine.

"I would not rule out American troops on the ground," Wicker said during an on-air interview with regard to Russia amassing troops on the Ukraine border. "We don’t rule out first-use nuclear action," he said. Wicker, who sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee, also told CNN that he hoped Biden "didn’t rule out a military response" while speaking to Putin.

In response, Tulsi Gabbard took to Twitter to say that Wicker's statement "exposes just how ignorant, insane, and sadistic he and other like-minded warmongers are."

Russia too protested against Wicker's statement calling them "irresponsible." "Joking with nuclear weapons is not appropriate for an American politician working at the U.S. legislative body," a statement by the Russian embassy to the United States said Thursday.

“We advise all the unenlightened to pick up and carefully acquaint themselves with the joint statement of the presidents of Russia and the United States of June 16, 2021," they continued. "This document confirms the commitment of the two countries to the principle that there can be no winners in a nuclear war."

President Biden spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin Tuesday seeking de-escalation of the crisis at Russia-Ukraine border. Biden is said to have warned Putin of consequences if Russia goes into war with Ukraine.

Gabbar reiterated her stance in an interview with Fox News' 'Tucker Carlson Tonight' Wednesday that "anyone who would propose or even consider what he is saying as an option must be insane, a sociopath or a sadist."

She added that "neoconservatives in both the Democratic and Republican parties are courting global turmoil with their current overtures toward Russia and its leader."

"Let's go and launch a nuclear attack that would start a war that would destroy the American people, our country and the world and oh, also, the Ukrainians so that we can save Ukraine’s democracy? I mean, it literally is insane," Gabbard said.

"And the crazy thing is, Senator Wicker is not an outlier," she explained. "You are hearing the same kind of rhetoric coming from Democrats and Republicans in Congress and the administration and in the media no problem with this because they actually agree with this. They are pushing this same narrative themselves," she added.

Gabbard also said the country was being "pushed closer and closer to a hot war, a nuclear war" by the same neocons and neo-libs in Washington who dragged our country into regime change wars in places like Iraq and Libya and Syria."
