Gal Gadot On Husband, Daughters' Cameos In 'Wonder Woman 1984': 'Souvenir We'll Cherish Forever'
KEY POINTS
- Gal Gadot spoke about how meaningful it was to have her husband and daughters be a part of "Wonder Woman 1984"
- The actress said her family will cherish the special scene
- Director Patty Jenkins' son Asa also appeared in the movie
“Wonder Woman 1984” saw the return of Gal Gadot as the lasso-wielding Amazonian on the big screen, but the actress’ entire family also made a special appearance in the superhero flick.
Gadot’s husband, Yaron Varsano, and their kids, 3-year-old Maya and 9-year-old Alma, made cameos in a special Christmas scene toward the end of “Wonder Woman 1984.” The Israeli beauty queen told Kevin McCarthy of GoodDay DC that the scene is a special one for her.
"I have two daughters, both of them appeared. My oldest one appeared with Asa, Patty's son, and then my youngest one, whom I was pregnant with during the reshoots for ‘Wonder Woman,’ the first one, was there with my husband," Gadot said, adding that the movie has a very special meaning.
“It completely changed my life and the amount of labor and thought and emotions that we put into the movie is just a lot. I couldn't have done my movie without the support of my amazing family, and to have them captured in the film with me meant a lot. An amazing, amazing souvenir that we will cherish forever," the actress, who has been married to her husband since 2008, explained.
As Gadot mentioned, “Wonder Woman 1984” director Patty Jenkins’ 12-year-old son Asa also appeared several times in the film alongside the actress' daughters. The award-winning filmmaker told Kelly Clarkson in an interview that the little boy got paid for his appearances.
“He kept very clear track of that and wanted his check, waited on his check,” Jenkins said.
The director also noted that her son Asa’s cameo may have been born out of necessity because they needed a child with an American accent while they were shooting in England. Jenkins told her son that they would dye his hair for this movie.
“Wonder Woman 1984” was originally slated for a summer release this year, but due to the pandemic, the studio had to postpone it. Then in November, Warner Bros. announced that the movie was heading straight to HBO Max on Christmas Day.
“Wonder Woman 3” is now being “fast-tracked” amid the success of the sequel, Deadline reported. At the helm will be Jenkins and Gadot will star.
