‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6 Spoilers: The Lannisters Could Kill The High Sparrow In Upcoming Episodes
A Lannister always pays their debts and it’s only a matter of time before one of the wealthiest families in all of Westeros gets revenge on “Game of Thrones.” The first person on their hit list is expected to be the High Sparrow, who could soon be taken out in Season 6 of the HBO drama.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister, said following the death of Tywin (Charles Dance) and Myrcella (Nell Tiger Free) his character Jaime will do his best to protect his last child Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman). The synopsis for episode 2 says Jaime will advise a heartbroken Tommen, who has been struggling since the Faith took away his wife Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer). Jaime will also turn his sights on the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce) after reuniting with his sister Cersei (Lena Headey).
“He has to deal with protecting their last kid, Tommen, who’s also the king — who is also a teenager in love, which is also not easy to deal with. It’s hard to control him. So he has to deal with that. And first the biggest enemy here, of course, is the Faith Militant, this religious uprising, being spearheaded by the High Sparrow. He has to deal with him. That’s what he’s gonna do,” Coster-Waldau said.
The promo video for episode 2 shows Jaime confronting the High Sparrow and it looks like he’s ready to attack.
“You’d spill blood in this holy place?” the High Sparrow asks in the trailer.
“The Gods spill more blood than the rest of us combined,” Jaime answers back.
Meanwhile, the episode 3 synopsis reveals Tommen will take it upon himself to confront the High Sparrow after a talk with Jaime in episode 2.
For now it seems like Jaime will be getting heavily involved, but it’s only a matter of time before the sinister Cersei comes back to help as well. In an interview with ABC News, Headey said Cersei has been taken to her “lowest point” on the show and “doesn’t know her place anymore.” However, the character fans are familiar with could return with a vengeance in the future.
“And so you find her at the beginning of this season really quite lost and vulnerable, and slowly but surely back comes old Cersei with a colder heart,” Headey dishes.
Aside from Jaime, Cersei also has Ser Robert Strong a.k.a. The Mountain (Hafthór Júlíus Björnsson), by her side to do her bidding. When the time comes for Strong to fight, it’s hard to see anyone being able to stop him. Strong was shown by Cersei’s side in the episode 2 promo video and it looks like we will soon see what he can do.
