‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6 Update: Filming Reportedly Set To Wrap In Ireland Next Week
Winter is coming – and “Game of Thrones” Season 6 is almost done filming! The season premiere of the HBO series is still a few months away, but the cast and crew are reportedly getting ready to wrap production on the new installment.
The update comes from Irish Thrones, a Twitter page that keeps track of filming locations in Ireland. On Friday the account shared that filming in the Northern Ireland town of Banbridge was already “all packed up and gone!” They added that filming in the country is “officially set to end next week.”
Banbridge has been a filming location for multiple seasons. This year, the series filmed the Siege of Riverrun in the town. The scenes will reportedly reunite Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) and Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) as the Lannisters prepare to attack the Tullys.
Those aren’t the only familiar faces that have been seen in the area. Fan site Winter Is Coming says actress Sophie Turner was also spotted. The outlet states that Turner’s character, Sansa Stark, will not share scenes with Brienne or Jamie during the Siege of Riverrun. She’s reportedly at a “separate location” filming her own scenes.
Meanwhile, Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, seems like she’s getting ready to say goodbye to her co-stars. The actress took to Instagram Sunday to share a photo of Turner and Maisie Williams. She captioned the photo “sisters from other misters” and added the hashtag, “#wrappingitupwithaview.”
HBO has yet to release the exact premiere date for "Game of Thrones," only teasing viewers that Season 6 will premiere in April 2016.
