‘Game Of Thrones’ Stars Sophie Turner, Emilia Clarke Say Goodbye Before Series Finale
Ahead of the “Game of Thrones” finale, stars decided to post their final goodbyes to their characters, the HBO drama and the fans. Sophie Turner and Emilia Clarke are among the cast members who posted lengthy goodbyes on Instagram ahead of the series finale on Sunday.
Sophie Turner posted a couple of behind-the-scenes shots along with a note that emphasized how much she learned from playing Sansa Stark for the last decade.
“Sansa, Thank you for teaching me resilience, bravery and what true strength really is,” she wrote. “Thank you teaching me to be kind and patient and to lead with love. I grew up with you. I fell in love with you at 13 and now 10 years on.. at 23 I leave you behind, but I will never leave behind what you’ve taught me.”
Turner also thanked the cast and crew as well as the fans. “I’ll miss this more than anything,” she concluded.
Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, posted a similar goodbye earlier on Sunday. “Finding the words to write this post has left me overwhelmed with how much I want to say but how small words feel in comparison to what this show and Dany have meant to me,” she wrote.
She ended her note with a shout out to the viewers. “But to you, dear kind magical fans, I owe you so much thanks, for your steady gaze at what we’ve made and what I’ve done with a character that was already in the hearts of many before I slipped on the platinum wig of dreams. Without you there is no us. And now our watch has ended,” she wrote.
Both actresses ignored the controversy surrounding “Game of Thrones.” Many fans are unhappy with the final season. There’s even a Change.org petition with over 1 million signatures demanding that HBO remake Season 8 “with competent writers.”
Surely, there will be more goodbyes and reminiscing on social media during and after the “Game of Thrones” series finale. The epic eight-season saga comes to a close Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT on HBO.
