A game warden shot and killed a mountain lion after it viciously attacked a Colorado resident and a responding deputy late Wednesday.

Together with Colorado Parks & Wildlife game wardens, Larimer County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to an animal attack near Loveland roughly around 2:00 p.m, said NBC News.

Authorities tried to contain the animal and even followed it to a trailer park for the safety of the residents. It was here that the mountain lion attacked the deputy.

Tim Satterly, a bystander who witnessed the attack told 9News that the predator bit the deputy on the shoulder.

“She got first aid. Her sleeve was off and wrapped up. I talked to her. She was OK, pretty shaken up,” Satterly said.

The attack prompted deputies to fire shots at the mountain lion. Unfortunately, the animal escaped, said Larimer County Sheriff's Office spokesperson David Moore.

It was tracked near a home on Black Crow Road near Highway 34 and was later shot and killed by a CPW game warden.

Both animal attack victims were brought to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries, the Sheriff's Office told NBC News.
