The social network giant Facebook has revealed its top 10 most popular games of 2011 list on Wednesday, and the Gardens of Time has topped the ranking, followed by The Sims Social and CityVille, according to Facebook.com.

Facebook said people were fond of playing hidden object, simulation, and casino-related games with their friends in 2011.

The hidden-object game Gardens of Time, built by Playdom, is a place players work for a organization unraveling the intrigues of a secret society, and protecting the world from sinister forces.

The ranking came as a surprise and many people felt that Gardens of Time does not deserve the top position as the monthly users of Zynga's CityVille are much more than the users of Gardens of Time.

According to AppData, CityVille currently has over 100 million monthly active users( MAU) and 21 million daily active users (DAU), while Gardens of Time has only 17 million MAU and 4 million DAU.

People said this rankings makes sense only if CityVille got a 20% 'Yes' rating average and Gardens of Time obtained an 80% 'Yes' average. Otherwise, it 's fishy why Facebook rank the Gardens of Time as the No. 1.

Facebook said the ranking is Based on games which drew the most active users in 2011 and received the highest user recommendations, according to SFLuxe. Gardens of Time received the highest volume of votes and the most yes votes in 2011. This may be the reason why Facebook named Gardens of Time as the No. 1 most popular games in 2011.
