Gates Foundation signs healthcare deal with Bihar
India - The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the Government of Bihar to ensure better health facilities for the people in Bihar.
With the signing of this MoC, the foundation will extend its aid to various health projects in selected districts of the state. The projects will involve cases of pneumonia, diarrhea and tuberculosis.
In his statement, Gates says that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will also extend full assistance in reduction of infant mortality rate and maternal mortality rate in the state.
The memorandum was signed in the presence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Bill Gates said that The Gates Foundation has its biggest focus on improving the health in the state.
For the next five years, they have taken eight districts of the state to upgrade the service. The foundation will make interventions in all 38 districts of Bihar in preliminary healthcare services.
Bill Gates has said that the basic priority of the organization is to save most of the lives by better delivery of medicines and vaccination and they will do the same in the state.
