KEY POINTS

  • Bill Murray pulled down Geena Davis' dress strap during a 1990 interview
  • The actor also repeatedly ran his hands up and down Davis' bare arm
  • Davis described the moment as "devastating"

Geena Davis' uncomfortable experiences with Bill Murray extended beyond the set of their 1990 movie "Quick Change."

Davis recently accused Murray of behaving inappropriately toward her while filming "Quick Change."

In a new sit-down interview with British outlet i magazine, she revisited her and Murray's "awful" interview on "The Arsenio Hall Show" back in 1990 to promote their film.

In a clip from their appearance on the talk show, shared by Entertainment Weekly, Murray can be seen stroking Davis' bare arm repeatedly while she is speaking to host Arsenio Hall. At one point, Murray took the strap of her dress down, forcing her to readjust her outfit quickly.

"Oh, you saw?" Davis asked the i reporter after being reminded of the moment. "Isn't it stunning? It's awful."

As Murray touches Davis in the clip, she tells Hall, "I did have to audition. It was a lot like this, in fact."

"He touched you a lot in the audition?" Hall asks Davis.

"Yeah, I swear," Davis replies. "The first thing he did was take my shirt out of my pants and start tickling my stomach."

Looking back on the moment, Davis told the i reporter, "I forgot that. Telling it that way, just as a humorous anecdote, I must have thought, 'Well, it's ultimately funny, or makes a good story,' when in fact it was so devastating."

Murray has not yet publicly addressed Davis' comments.

Earlier this month, Davis opened up about Murray's alleged inappropriate actions toward her on the "Quick Change" set in her new memoir, "Dying of Politeness."

She claimed that Murray insisted on using a massage device called the Thumper on her during the audition process, placing "the thing on my back for a total of about two seconds." The actress also claimed that he yelled at her in front of the crew for being late while she was waiting on wardrobe.

"That was bad," Davis told The Times. "The way he behaved at the first meeting... I should have walked out of that or profoundly defended myself, in which case I wouldn't have got the part."

"I could have avoided that treatment if I'd known how to react or what to do during the audition," she continued. "But, you know, I was so non-confrontational that I just didn't."

In April, Murray was accused of "inappropriate behavior" on the set of the film "Being Mortal," causing the production to be suspended.

An unnamed insider told Page Six the actor was allegedly "very hands-on touchy," and while it was not illegal, "some women felt uncomfortable and he crossed a line."

The Golden Globe winner later addressed the on-set misconduct allegations.

"I did something I thought was funny, and it wasn't taken that way," Murray said on CNBC at the time.

Murray added that he was "optimistic" that he and his accuser could "make peace."

Davis' memoir "Dying of Politeness" is already out.
