'General Hospital' Alum Steve Burton Announces Split From Pregnant Wife: 'The Child Is Not Mine'

“General Hospital” alum Steve Burton has announced separation from his wife of 23 years, Sheree Burton, claiming that he's not the father of her fourth child.

The actor made the announcement Wednesday on his Instagram story.

“I wanted to clear something up,” he wrote. “Sheree and I are separated. She recently announced that she’s expecting her 4^th child. The child is not mine. We are still co-parenting our three beautiful kids. We would appreciate privacy at this time. Much luv, Steve.”

Steve did not clarify how long they have been separated. It also remains unclear whether Sheree already has a new partner.

His statement came hours after Sheree suggested in a since-deleted Instagram story that she’s expecting baby number four. The post featured a side profile of herself taking a mirror selfie while flaunting her baby bump. “Life sure is full of surprises!” she captioned the photo.

While the nutrition and fitness enthusiast has yet to comment on Steve’s announcement, Sheree took to Instagram in January to reflect on her “mistakes” in life.

Sharing a photo of her back as she stood on the beach, she wrote, “If you could go back, what would you tell your younger self? I would have said… Follow your passions… People will hurt you, but always be kind and take the high road… Don’t be afraid to fail or try new things… Learn from your mistakes because you will make mistakes… It’s ok! You are strong, brave, beautiful and capable of anything you put your mind to. Life is short, so live it and love everyone.”

Meanwhile, Steve made headlines in November 2021 after being fired from “General Hospital” over his refusal to get vaccinated against COVID-19. The actor said at the time that the show had to let him go because of the vaccine mandate. He explained he did apply for his “medical and religious exemptions,” but both had been denied. The decision to fire him “hurts,” he told the outlet, adding that being vaccinated was also about “personal freedom.”

Steve and Sheree first met on the set of “General Hospital” and tied the knot in 1999. The ex-couple has three children, Makena, 18, Jack, 16, and Brooklyn, 7.
