Is ‘General Hospital’ New Today? Labor Day Delays ABC Episode
When Labor Day rolls around, “General Hospital” hospital viewers will have to go without their Monday fix of a new episode. The soap opera will be preempted for the federal holiday and ABC will show an encore presentation of the Nov. 18, 2020, episode instead.
The synopsis for the “GH” episode reveals, as noted by TV Guide, “Sonny (Maurice Benard) is suspicious. Julian (William deVry) tries a new tactic. Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) may be in over her head. Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) is angered. Michael (Chad Duell) is in disbelief.”
Once “General Hospital” returns with new episodes, viewers can expect to see plenty of current drama from their favorite characters.
Some of that drama could include Jason (Steve Burton) and Carly (Laura Wright) growing closer as their fake romance begins to turn real, and Nina (Cynthia Watros) focusing on covering up her secret life with Sonny in Nixon Falls.
The Labor Day episode delay comes weeks after "GH" fans suffered another disappointment. Last month, Burton tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of a show for his tour with co-star Bradford Anderson.
However, Coastal Talent NYC announced the show would be rescheduled so fans could still see their favorite “GH” duo.
“We are very sorry to say that the Stone Cold and Jackal shows will need to be rescheduled. All tickets will be transferred to new dates which will be announced next week. @1steveburton has just tested positive for Covid,” the statement read as reported by Soap Hub.
“He was exposed at work last week and took a test Wednesday which was negative, however in an abundance of caution before flying out to do the tour, he took another test this morning to be safe and tested positive. He is fine and currently has no symptoms. We are working actively to secure another date.”
New episodes of “General Hospital” are expected to resume Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 3 p.m. EST on ABC.
