General Mills withdraws snacks on peanut butter contamination fears
Consumer Foods maker General Mills Inc. -- maker of Cheerios cereal and Yoplait yogurt -- has recalled products associated with the contamination of salmonella in peanut butter.
The company recalled Larabar Peanut Butter Cookie flavor snack bars and JamFrakas Peanut Butter Blisscrisp flavor snack bars as they were made from peanut butter from Peanut Corp. of America.
The Food and Drug Administration said Peanut Corp. of America tested positive for salmonella its products. The salmonella spread may have started in a peanut processing plant in Blakely, Georgia, according to Reuters.
The salmonella outbreak has likely killed six people, according to the source.
