KEY POINTS

  • "Genshin Impact" 1.4 details were announced over the weekend
  • MiHoYo shared the update's content, including new events, story quests, characters and more
  • The new story quest allows players to date some of the playable characters in the game

It appears that miHoYo happily embraces the idea that it has some similarities with "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," and despite criticisms from some gamers, the gaming studio is set to launch a "Breath of the Wild-inspired" dating sim activity via update 1.4's Windbloom Festival.

Hangout Events

Gaming studio miHoYo announced the new dating sim activity at its recent Update 1.4 Livestream. The patch's Windbloom Festival, "Genshin Impact" players would have the chance to spend time with Chongyun, Barbara, Noelle and Bennett in the in-game Hangout Events. Each featured character comes with a series of interactions and events and multiple endings based on the dialogue choices players picked during the event.

Players able to unlock each of the character's actual endings get a Hangout Memory illustration. Meanwhile, "Genshin Impact" players who managed to unlock multiple endings receive even greater rewards. According to miHoYo, this latest kind of story quest features several endings so players could have "some quality time hanging out with Barbara, Noelle, Bennett, and Chongyun, creating a rich range of memories together."

Based on the story quest's official trailer, it seems that this is just starting the dating sim activity. And there is a great chance that the devs would introduce more of this in the coming "Genshin Impact" updates.

Update 1.4

The Windbloom Festival launches on March 17 but only available to players who have reached Adventure Rank 20 or above. Also, players must have completed the Song of the Dragon and Freedom questline to get an invitation to participate in the in-game Spring festival. There are three primary mini-games available to players during the said festival.

This includes the Ballads of Breeze, the Bullseye Balloons and the Floral Freefall. Each of these mini-games features four levels of difficulty with rewards on each level. Players get multiple Festive Tour Tickets that they can exchange for two new gadgets and some talent level-up items.
