KEY POINTS

  • "Genshin Impact" players must reach certain levels of Festive Fever to unlock all of the Lantern Rite Festival's content
  • Festive Fever can be increased by doing specific event missions
  • Reaching 1,000 Festive Fever will reward players with a four-star character of their choice

The Lantern Rite Festival is ongoing in “Genshin Impact,” and plenty of goodies are still available for players who want to get everything that the event has to offer.

From the Theater Mechanicus game mode to Xiao’s character story quests, the event has a lot going on. The Festive Fever meter is one other new addition to the game that will reward players with a four-star Liyue character of their choice once they hit a certain threshold.

Apart from the free character, Festive Fever also gates players from the rest of the event’s content. This means that increasing the meter is necessary if “Genshin Impact” players want to reach the later stages of the festival.

Luckily, increasing the Fever meter is very simple and requires less effort than “Genshin Impact’s” bigger challenges.

The Lantern Rite Festival introduces a new tab in the events menu of the game. Here, players will find the “Lantern Rite Tales” section that contains a number of side quests and objectives for players to finish. Completing these tales will reward players with 100 Festive Fever points and progress the Fever meter accordingly.

Completing these quests will eventually unlock more quests until players max out the Fever meter. These are short and simple missions that often involve stories about the common folk in Liyue Harbor like the merchants, administrators and dock workers.

While they aren’t as exciting as Theater Mechanicus or the new Prime Geovishap boss encounter, these tales breathe a little bit more life into Liyue by giving more personality to its NPCs. Plus, they each reward about 30 Primogems each, giving players an extra source of income for their character banner savings. The extra Primogems will be more than welcome for those who are saving for Hu Tao, who is rumored to be coming out after the Keqing character banner.

The free character reward is a great way for players to earn that extra Constellation rank or get that one character that they’ve been wanting from the gacha system. Only the four-star Liyue characters like Ningguang and Beidou are available, however, so choose wisely.

Genshin Impact” players will have until the end of February to grind the Lantern Rite Festival event.
