'Genshin Impact' Ganyu Guide: Best Builds And Team Compositions
KEY POINTS
- Ganyu deals very high damage but is incredibly fragile
- She has high innate CRIT Rate bonuses from her ascension passive and Cryo Resonance
- Ganyu works well with characters with shields like Noelle and Zhongli
Ganyu is, by far, the most consistent damage-dealer among all of the five-star characters in “Genshin Impact.” Unlike high-burst carries like Diluc or characters like Xiao and Hu Tao who rely on specific windows of opportunity, Ganyu can simply hang back and pelt enemies with her Cryo arrows.
Her relatively simple nature and absurd damage potential make Ganyu an incredibly easy character to use, but there are some subtle nuances with her kit that players might want to know about if they want to gain as much DPS as possible.
Here are some tips on how to play Ganyu as well as her best builds and team synergies.
How To Play Ganyu
Ganyu is a ranged glass cannon. She has extremely high attack damage at the expense of having weak defensive stats. Her strong attacks can easily chunk down the HP of even the strongest enemies in the game, but she can get incapacitated in about two or three hits.
She relies on her fully-charged Charged Attacks to deal damage while her abilities provide crowd control and more AoE damage. Ganyu should always stay a fair distance away while charging her shots and keeping enemies distracted with her Elemental Skill.
Best Ganyu Builds
Unlike other DPS carries, Ganyu can get away with low CRIT Rate on her artifacts because of her ascension passives and the Cryo Resonance effect. As long as she hits her Charged Attacks, she will gain an increase to the critical hit chance of her subsequent Charged Attacks.
Due to this, players can focus on increasing ATK%, Cryo DMG% and CRIT DMG instead. Increasing her CRIT Rate isn’t a bad idea, but it’s ideal to keep it below 30% so as not to go over the CRIT Rate cap of 100%.
Ganyu can equip either the Wanderer’s Troupe or Blizzard Strayer sets based on player preference and artifact stat/substat availability. Blizzard Strayer is better for players with low CRIT Rate.
As for her weapons, the five-star Amos Bow is her best option. Players who don’t have this can opt for the Prototype Crescent or Blackcliff Bow instead.
Team Synergies
Ganyu doesn’t rely much on elemental reactions since she’s a Cryo-based damage dealer. Additionally, the lack of Pyro characters who can consistently apply Pyro status means Ganyu won’t be able to capitalize on Melt procs efficiently.
Her best supports are ones who can protect her from damage like Noelle. Meanwhile, Sucrose and Venti can reduce enemy Cryo RES with the Venerer set while also grouping targets together, making them vulnerable to Ganyu’s AoE attacks.
