'Genshin Impact' Guide: Thoma's Best Weapons And Artifacts
KEY POINTS
- Thoma excels at protecting the party and constantly applying Pyro on enemies
- He can be used as a Sub-DPS and Support character
- The Noblesse Oblige artifact set works well on Thoma when played as an offensive support
Thoma is now available in the current gacha banners for “Genshin Impact,” offering players a new way to play the game thanks to his unique set of effects and abilities.
As a DPS/Support hybrid, Thoma can reliably deal damage and provide his team with a durable shield with a unique effect. While he can fit in almost any team in “Genshin Impact” thanks to his protective barrier, Thoma shines brightest in a party that can make use of his ability to constantly apply Pyro to large groups of enemies while off-field.
Here’s a short guide on how to use Thoma, as well as some of the best weapons and artifacts to use on him.
How to play Thoma
Due to the nature of his abilities, Thoma is best used as an off-field support who provides the team with strong shields and constant Pyro effects.
Thoma’s Elemental Skill, Blazing Barrier, creates a Pyro shield that protects the active character. Subsequent casts of Blazing Barrier refreshes the shield’s duration, making it very handy in prolonged fights.
Meanwhile, Thoma’s Elemental Burst, Crimson Ooyoroi, deals damage to all enemies near Thoma and buffs the active character with the ability to shoot flame waves with every basic attack.
This makes Thoma play similarly to an offensive support like Xingqiu or a shielder like Noelle.
Best weapons for Thoma
The Staff of Homa is the best possible polearm for Thoma. This weapon has high base ATK and Crit DMG stats as well as a damage bonus that scales off the wielder’s HP. Since Thoma’s abilities scale with his maximum health, Homa will grant him the best possible combination of stats compared to other weapons.
For F2P options, consider using The Catch for extra Elemental Burst uptime and damage or Dragon’s Bane for Melt/Vaporize builds.
Recommended Artifacts
HP and Pyro DMG stats take priority for Thoma’s artifacts, as they offer the most consistent bonuses. ATK, ATK% and critical hit stats should be taken after HP and Pyro DMG are acquired.
As for artifact sets, Emblem of Severed Fate is a great option for keeping Thoma’s Elemental Burst up as much as possible while also buffing its damage. Players can also mix pieces of Crimson Witch of Flames and Tenacity of the Milellith for additional HP and Pyro DMG.
