'Genshin Impact': Raiden Shogun Banner Breaks Game’s 2-Day Revenue Record
KEY POINTS
- The Raiden Shogun had the highest two-day revenue spike among characters in "Genshin Impact"
- The Shogun's banner surpassed that of Klee and Venti's rerun
- The Genesis Crystal top-up reset may have played a part in the Raiden Shogun's sharp revenue record
The Raiden Shogun’s limited-time character banner in “Genshin Impact” now stands as one of the most popular after achieving the highest two-day revenue since the game’s release.
The Raiden Shogun’s banner earned over 9 million, which is the highest two-day revenue spike for any character in the game so far, according to Donuts Gaming, one of the leading information providers from Asia’s “Genshin Impact” community. According to their summary, The Shogun topped Klee’s first banner, which earned 8.65 million at the time, and Venti’s rerun banner that earned 8.47 million.
The currency type was not stated, but Donuts Gaming noted that the revenue numbers were Chinese iOS sales only based on the Chandashi website.
Interestingly, the Genesis Crystal top-up reset may have played a part in inflating the Shogun banner’s revenue numbers.
Donuts Gaming exclusively told International Business Times that on the first day of the banner, revenue peaked at 3.4 million. However, the second and third days reached 6.03 million and 6.3 million, respectively, before dipping down to 3.09 million on the fourth day.
This means that the actual revenue for the Raiden Shogun amounts to over 12 million instead of the original 9 million, as shown in Donuts Gaming’s summary video.
Judging by how revenue is recorded at the end of each day, it’s likely that the Sept. 1 revenue record was from players who took advantage of the Genesis Crystal top-up reset, while the Sept. 2 and 3 records were the actual ones that pertained to the Raiden Shogun’s banner.
The banner’s success makes the Raiden Shogun the best-selling Archon on the Chinese servers in terms of initial sales spike. However, there’s still a chance that the other 5-star characters can stand above the Shogun in terms of popularity and sales records depending on the Shogun banner’s overall performance.
Despite her commercial success, fans are torn over whether or not the Raiden Shogun is worth pulling for. Some players said that her damage and utility are too weak for an Archon, while others believe that she’s more than enough even without any heavy monetary investment.
The Raiden Shogun’s banner expires on Sept. 22.
