George Zimmerman Vs DMX In Celebrity Boxing Match? Rapper Verbally Agrees To Fight Pending Contract Talks, Report Says [PHOTO]
Who will get the chance to pummel George Zimmerman in a celebrity boxing match? The acquitted killer is officially slated to appear in a celebrity boxing match reportedly in March—and his opponent may have been decided.
Zimmerman, the 30-year-old Florida man who fatally shot unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin in the spring 2012 incident that sparked nationwide outrage, will reportedly fight rapper DMX in a match, TMZ reports. Match promoter Damon Feldman reportedly selected DMX from more than 15,000 applicants.
In January, Zimmerman agreed to fight anyone who would be willing to compete in a celebrity boxing match, drawing thousands of applications from would-be opponents. Soon after, DMX, 43, explained his desire to fight Zimmerman, saying that he’d enter the ring for “every black person who has been done wrong in the system.”
“I am going to beat the living f--- out of him,” DMX told TMZ. “I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure that I f--- him right up. Once I am done with him, I am going to whip my d--- out and piss on him.”
While DMX has verbally agreed to fight Zimmerman, the bout has not yet been finalized, TMZ reports. The rapper's representative that he'll finalize the agreement after reviewing the financial terms of the contract.
DMX isn’t the only well-known figure associated with the event. Before Feldman announced his decision, several other celebrities expressed interest in fighting Zimmerman.
UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones took to Twitter to discuss a potential match. “If this ‘celebrity’ boxing match wasn’t in march [sic], I’d gladly oblige Zimmerman,” he wrote.
Game, a rapper who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 240 pounds, also stated his desire to box Zimmerman. “Anyone would jump at the opportunity, and if you could [fight him] and it was legal and there were no repercussions for knocking Zimmerman out, why not?” he told TMZ.
Zimmerman has reportedly spent months training for the upcoming boxing match, the website reports. The exact details on the three-round fight, including its date, time and location, will be announced Feb. 12.
