Geri Halliwell Sad After Fiancé’s Parents Decide To Boycott Her Wedding

Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell is sad the parents of fiancé Christian Horner will not attend their wedding. She had thought the parents would put aside their differences with their son and attend the wedding, the Mirror UK reported. The couple are to tie the knot at Syon House in West London Friday.

The fallout between the Red Bull F1 star and his parents began when he left his ex-partner soon after she gave birth to their daughter. His parents, Garry and Sara, disapproved. Christian was with Beverley Allen for 14 years but left just months after they had a baby girl named Olivia.

Geri Halliwell has been left “saddened” after her fiance’s parents insisted they won’t be coming to the wedding. The 42-year-old hoped the family rift could be mended, and Christian Horner’s mother and father could be persuaded to attend. “Geri and Christian are disappointed his parents aren’t coming, but all his brothers, close family and pals will be there. It is going to be a great day so they aren’t overthinking it,” a source close to the couple said, Mirror UK reported.

The insider added the pair was very excited about spending the rest of their lives together. Geri, meanwhile, has been busy planning for her big day, which is reportedly going to be a fairy tale wedding. Ginger Spice will walk down the aisle accompanied by 8-year-old daughter Bluebell in a Sarah Burton wedding gown. The British fashion designer and creative director of Alexander McQueen designed Kate Middleton’s wedding gown in 2011.

Geri has gotten her family involved in her big day. Her sister Natalie will be maid of honor and her gown is being designed by Nicki Macfarlane, who also made bridesmaid dresses for Prince William's and Kate’s wedding. The insider said the former Spice Girl "loves her family and has made sure they have pride of place on the big day." Though Christian’s parents won’t be there, Geri’s mother and sister will be there for her wedding.

Halliwell announced her engagement to the Red Bull F1 team boss by placing a notice in the Times in November 2014. The couple have been friends since 2009 and began dating since March 2014. Geri, 42, and Christian, 41, both have children from their previous relationships. The singer's daughter Bluebell was fathered by Sacha Gervasi.
