'Ghostbusters 3' Movie in Development, Bill Murray May Not Appear in the Film
Ghostbusters 3 has been in the works for some time, but one of the most popular characters and actors will not be making an appearance in the film. The legendary comic actor Bill Murray does not appearing interested in reviving the series.
After two movies and two animated television shows, Dan Aykroyd and co-star Rick Moranis are reportedly actively working on bringing the Ghostbusters back.
If we can get the script to 'Ghostbusters 3' right, then it would definitely have Moranis as a major component. None of us would want to do the movie without having him as a participant, said Aykroyd, reported Empire Online.
The script must be perfect, said Aykroyd. We cannot release a film that is any less than that. We have more work to do
Recently, a rumor circulated the Internet that Murray read a working script and shredded it. He sent a note that allegedly said No-one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts. However, Aykroyd denied the rumors.
Bill Murray is not capable of such behavior, he said. This is simply something that would not be in his nature. He continued to say that the he and Murray have genuinely friends and he would not treat anyone that way and that his stance on Ghostbuster 3 was all but final.
We communicate frequently and his position on the involvement in 'Ghostbusters 3' has been made clear and I respect that, said Aykroyd. But Bill has too much positive estimation of my writing skills to shred the work.
However, other rumors are circulating that Sony would not go forward for a third Ghostbusters film without Murray playing Venkman. Although, it was reported that the company has already allocated about $150 million for the film's budget, reported Indiewire.
Ivan Reitman is apparently set to direct and is excited about the prospect of working on another sequel to Ghostbusters.
It's got a really good story, this one. Maybe the best of the whole series. I hope we get to do it.
