‘Ghostbusters’ 3 Movie Rumors: Jonah Hill And Emma Stone Reportedly Offered Roles In New Movie; Rumor Roundup
Finally – some news on “Ghostbusters 3!” The third installment of the beloved supernatural franchise may never make it to theaters, but that’s not stopping casting rumors from flowing. The latest scoop on “Ghostbusters 3” is that former “Superbad” co-stars Jonah Hill and Emma Stone have reportedly been offered roles.
The rumor comes courtesy of SchmoesKnow.com, which claims to “have it on good authority” that the two young actors have been “offered the parts of Jeremy and Anna respectively.” Who are Jeremy and Anna? Fans will have to keep wondering because there are no leaked details on said characters, but Schmoes Know speculates that they may be the offspring of some of the original “Ghostbusters” team members.
So far the only confirmation regarding “Ghostbusters 3” is that Ivan Reitman will be directing, and “Men In Black 3” writer Etan Cohen was tapped to help rewrite Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg’s version of the film.
And while the highly anticipated sequel is still up in the air, it does have some highly amusing rumors attached:
New Research
Dan Aykroyd told Larry King in May that the film would be about new research being done in particle physics at Columbia University. The research results in the world we live in being threatened … and the new Ghostbusters will be called in to save the day.
Bill Murray Is The Root Of All “Ghostbuster” problems
Despite fans begging for Bill Murray to reprise his role at Peter Venkman, he reportedly wants nothing to do with the role. One myth circulating is that the actor actually sent his former co-star, Aykroyd, a shredded script of the proposed sequel.
Ghost Murray
And while one rumor has Murray not interested, another report claims that the actor wants to return to the franchise as a ghost. Aykroyd previously told Britain’s Telegraph that Murray does not want to be involved despite promises that “there will be a hole for him” in the film.
“If Billy wants to walk in the door and be in the movie, we will find a place,” Aykroyd explained.
Release Date
Despite no green light on the film, “Ghostbusters 3” is rumored to have a 2014 release date to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the first film.
