Gia Allemand Hospitalized: 'Bachelor' Season 14 Contestant In ‘Critical Condition’
Gia Allemand, a contestant on Season 14 of “The Bachelor,” was hospitalized Monday night and is in critical condition.
Allemand, 29, was rushed to University Hospital in New Orleans after a “serious emergency medical event, the details of which are currently not known,” according to the 29-year-old’s publicist. “She is listed in critical condition.”
"Ms. Allemand's mother is with her, along with her long-term boyfriend, NBA basketball player Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Pelicans," the statement continued. "On behalf of the family, we kindly ask for privacy at this time."
Anderson, who plays for the New Orleans Pelicans, tweeted a cryptic message on Monday night, citing a verse from the bible. "Those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted." Luke 14:11
Allemand appeared on season 14 of The Bachelor with Jake Pavelka in 2010. She was eliminated from the final three on the show, and later joined the season one cast of “Bachelor Pad.” She currently works as a fitness instructor in Metairie, La., Entertainment Weekly reported.
Former “Bachelor” co-star Pavelka, along with others from the cast, have taken to Twitter to send their prayers to Allemand.
"Please pray for @GiaAllemand . . . A dear friend and one of the sweetest women I know . . . #powerofprayer,” Jake Pavelka tweeted.
“Please keep @GiaAllemand in your prayers. I do not know details but she is in the icu. Stay strong and I love you. Xo” season winner Vienna Girardi wrote. Runner-up Tenley Molzahn added: "Fresh air & prayer time. Keep it up #BachelorNation #PrayForGia giaallemand."
Other stars from the show’s run are clueless as to how Allemand ended up in critical condition. "Im not sure what has happened to @GiaAllemand but I'm praying for her. Please take a second to do the same!" Holly Julian wrote.
