KEY POINTS
- Gia Giudice introduced two new hoodies as part of her clothing line
- Some fans were not pleased that a lyric from one of Mac Miller’s songs was featured in one hoodie
- They called out the reality star for allegedly profiting from the late rapper’s work
Gia Giudice just launched two new hoodies as part of her clothing line, but one of them did not get the response she was hoping for.
The 21-year-old reality star announced on Instagram Tuesday the release of her new hoodies with Hazel Boutique. The eldest daughter of “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Teresa Giudice shared a series of photos and clips showing her and her pals modeling the brown hoodies adorned with orange-colored texts.
One of the hoodies had the text, “If you saw me last night, no you didn’t.” The other featured the statement, “I’ll be good by the weekend,” which is a lyric from Mac Miller’s song “Weekend” with Miguel.
A number of Instagram users were not pleased upon seeing the merch because they claimed Gia seemed to be profiting from the work of the late rapper, who died in 2018 of an accidental overdose of drugs and alcohol.
“Not you copying Mac Miller’s lyrics and profiting off of it,” one person wrote.
“How can you quote Mac on your merch? [What the f---] is this?” another commented on the post.
“Just awful and embarrassing,” a different user added.
Gia did not respond to the negative comments, but she did interact with a few followers who inquired about the sizes of the hoodies.
On the other hand, many of Gia’s followers did not see any problem with the text featured in the hoodies. They even congratulated the TV personality on the release of her new products.
“I love it! Congratulations, Gia!” a fan stated.
“Gia wow!! So proud of you!! I’ll be ordering mine,” another wrote in support of Gia.
“These look great. Congrats, Gia,” a third user commented.
Gia launched her clothing line, g.g.est.2001, in June last year. Her mother Teresa and two of her sisters — Milania, 15, and Audriana, 12 — helped Gia by modeling her first pieces at the time.
Teresa and her ex-husband Joe Giudice also share another daughter, Gabriella, 17, who has opted to mostly stay out of the limelight except for when the family is filming content for the Bravo series.
Meanwhile, Gia recently decided to put an end to the rumors claiming that she got engaged to her boyfriend, Christian Carmichael, ahead of her 21st birthday on Jan. 8.
“There have been rumors circulating on the internet that my boyfriend and I are secretly engaged. I can confirm the engagement news — specifically, that we are NOT engaged,” she told Celebuzz in an exclusive interview a few days before her birthday.
“We are happily together as boyfriend and girlfriend, but definitely, there is no engagement here,” she added.
