Gigi Hadid’s Ex-Boyfriend Cody Simpson Speaks Out About Breakup; Says Being Single Is ‘Pretty Sweet’

Gigi Hadid is rumored to have moved on following her breakup from Australian singer Cody Simpson earlier this month, and it appears he has also. Simpson, 18, was recently spotted sans the 20-year-old supermodel walking the streets of Los Angeles with several male and female pals.

When Simpson was asked by TMZ Wednesday how he was enjoying single life, the “All Day" singer said it was “pretty sweet.”

“Everything you reckon,” Simpson said when questioned on what the best part of being unattached was. “Everything you think it is,” he added with a laugh.

While Simpson was been out with friends, Hadid has hardly been mourning their split either. Shortly after Hadid and Simpson confirmed their parting of the ways to People earlier this month, she was rumored to be dating 25-year-old singer Joe Jonas. The “I Can Do That" star later denied they were an item, despite paparazzi capturing photos of their shopping excursion in Los Angeles on May 14.

But Hadid hasn’t been spending her time just in the company of men. Following her split from Simpson, she has also been spending quite a bit of time with her gal pals, including fellow model and “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star Kendall Jenner. After soaking up some rays on a luxury yacht on the French Riviera off Monte Carlo on May 23 with Jenner, Hadid posted a photo of herself and the 19-year-old taking in the F1 Grand Prix in Monaco on Tuesday. Jenner’s rumored boyfriend, British Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, was also present. “We love you @lewishamilton,” Hadid captioned one Instagram shot. “Everyone knows you da champ."

Hadid and Simpson announced their breakup on May 9. This is the second time the on-again, off-again pair has publicly split during their two-year romance. They first broke up last spring. Hadid’s representative blamed their most recent separation on their burgeoning careers. “Cody and Gigi want each other to be in a place right now that allows him to focus on his music, fans and new message, while she can focus on and continue building her career,” the model’s rep said in a statement to People.

Despite Simpson’s admission to loving his new, single life and Hadid’s rumored new love interest, her rep added that they have a shared hope to reconcile. “They love each other dearly and have split up in hopes that growing on their own paths will bring them together in the future. They remain friends with no hard feelings and each other’s biggest supporters.”
