Gigi Hadid's Friends Find Zayn Malik 'Awkward' While Ex-Boyfriend Joe Jonas Still Has Feelings For Her

While Gigi Hadid seems to happily dating the former One Direction heartthrob Zayn Malik, her friends may not have been completely on board with the model's relationship with him. The rumored couple had been seen at The Nice Guy restaurant in Los Angeles and were reportedly spotted holding hands in front of the cameras.

"Her friends do not quite understand what the attraction is," an insider told E! News Wednesday, adding: "He is not her usual type, he doesn't share her sense of humor or ease with people [and] he's a little more self-aware and awkward."

Hadid, 20, was dating singer Joe Jonas for five months and broke up with him in early November, while Malik, 22, was engaged to singer Perrie Edwards for about two years until calling it quits in August. Another report by E! News said, citing a source, that Jonas was upset hearing about Hadid’s relationship status with Malik, and that he still has feelings for her.

"Joe is doing well," a source told E! News, adding: "He was a bit upset how fast Gigi went out in public with Zayn, but it is what it is at this point."

The source also said: "He still has feelings for Gigi that won't just disappear overnight. They did love each other and he still has a love for Gigi. He is not looking to rush into another relationship though just yet."

"He is focusing on his music and new projects that are in the works. He has some great friends and family around so, like anything, he knows his feelings for Gigi will pass with time," the source said, adding, "He has many options of women, but he is a pretty picky guy," according to E! News.

Last week, a report had said that Hadid and Malik were just testing waters so far to see where it goes. The report added that though they liked each other, they still planned to give the relationship some time.
