Dieting is something that many are willing to do but find it hard to execute. Easier said than done is what it is. Many plan to exercise daily or cut out desserts but would find it hard even to make the first step. One girl, however, was able to do it.

Jessica Dotson, 26, from Talladega, Alabama, revealed that she successfully lost almost 100 pounds through portion control. This means that she did not exactly eradicate food from her meals, but went for smaller servings.

According to NYPost’s report, Dotson cut her calorie intake by 50%. Before, she used to eat the 20-piece McNuggets along with calorie-packed large french fries from McDonald’s. She said that she could finish it all by herself.

Dotson ate to cope with things; however, things took an awful turn when she had her second child. She had to deal with high blood pressure and with a huge weight gain. At only 26, she already weighed more than 250 pounds, a weight classified as at the obese level.

16:8 Intermittent Fasting

Realizing her own health predicament, Dotson decided to change things. She didn’t go on a crash diet but did intermittent fasting. She tried the 16:8 diet, where she would fast for 16 hours and would eat for 8 hours. During the eating window, experts recommend consuming healthy foods. Steer clear of junk foods and too many carbs.

Healthline also highlighted another way to fast, aside from the one that Dotson did. It’s called the 5:2 Diet. Here, you would be eating for five days and would fast for two days. Aside from the normal eating routine for five days, it is required that you restrict calorie intake between 500 to 600 calories on the two fasting days. Women are recommended to eat around 500 calories, while men can do 600.

Cutting Calorie Intake

Aside from the 16:8 intermittent fasting, Dotson also cut down her calorie intake. She reduced it by 50%, which worked wonders for her. What made it great for Dotson was that she didn’t entirely give up her favorite McDonald’s McNuggets.

She was still able to eat her favorite McDonald’s treat for lunch, but she no longer did it every day. One thing that she did was to eat the 6-piece McNuggets instead of the usual 20-piece box that she would have.
