Giuliani Is The Gift That Keeps On Giving For Late Night: Watch
“He was dying up there,” is just one of the jokes from late-night talk show hosts lampooning the latest performance from the president’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.
Appearing for the first time representing a client in federal court in nearly 30 years, the former New York mayor sweated profusely during a media appearance on Thursday. So much so that what appeared to be hair dye or makeup ran down his sideburns.
“He was literally dying up there today,” said comedian Jimmy Kimmel on ABC’s "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Thursday night.
Over on "The Late Show" on CBS, host Stephen Colbert said the former mayor looked like he dyed his hair, “but his head is challenging the results."
Billy Baldwin, one of the Baldwin acting clan, quipped on his Twitter account that perhaps it was a sign that Giuliani’s health was failing.
Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show" on NBC said that after watching Giuliani go on for some 40 minutes he decided the election system was fine but the former mayor is "broken."
For Trevor Noah, who hosts "The Daily Show" on Comedy Central, it’s obvious there’s a leak in the Trump administration.
Karaoke fan James Corden, the host of the "Late Late Show" on CBS, had a field day with Giuliani trying to explain polling issues with references to the 1992 comedy “My Cousin Vinny.”
In a not-so-funny review of Trump’s legal claims, the Associated Press noted that many of the court filings from the administration were filled with rookie mistakes. A challenge referencing polling stations reference “pole watchers.”
Another lawyer, Marc Scaringi, who took on a case in Pennsylvania after a high-profile team abandoned Trump, said on his own blog before he was hired that there are “no bombshells” that would “derail a Biden presidency,” according to the AP.
Trump, his legal defense teams, and many in the Republican Party have either tacitly or explicitly claimed, without evidence, that the election was rigged, fraudulent, or stolen. The completion of a hand-count of votes in Georgia secured Biden’s lead there and it would be extraordinary if Trump litigated his way to a second term.
From the late show crowd, "The Daily Show" host commented that it looked like Trump was trying to overthrow Trump.
Biden took 306 votes in the Electoral College that decides the presidency. A candidate needs 270 to win. Biden, in a statement, said Trump’s refusal to concede was “irresponsible.”
