GM Delays GMC Hummer EV Launch: SUV Still On Track For Fall 2021 Delivery [VIDEO]
While anticipation for General Motors’ (GM) GMC Hummer EV has been mounting, the automaker announced that it was delaying the launch of the all-electric vehicle.
Slated for a reveal on May 20, GM said it has rescheduled the release date. While the company did not specifically give a reason why the Hummer EV would be delayed, most signs point to the current COVID-19 situation.
GM did say it was continuing on with its development of the Hummer EV, which is “on track and undeterred.”
To help ease the disappointment, GM provided a short teaser video that shows the Hummer EV in action and true to the company’s word on the quietness of the Hummer; there was no sound to the video.

The GMC Hummer will have up to 1,000 horsepower from a virtually silent powertrain, with up to 11,500 pounds-per-feet of torque. The vehicle is expected to hit 60 mph in three seconds.
Despite the delay in unveiling the Hummer EV, GM said that the vehicle is on track for a Fall 2021 delivery to customers and dealers.
GM did not reveal when the Hummer EV would be introduced, just saying that more details about the SUV will be released leading up to its debut.
Shares of GM stock were down 6.16% as of 2:52 p.m. EDT on Thursday.
