GM Introduces New Chevy Tahoe, Suburban: Automaker Adds Space, Features In Full-Sized SUVs
GM (GM) has released its new Chevy Tahoe and Suburban SUV models for 2021. The new SUVs were designed for the full-sized vehicle market, offering more room and plenty of cargo space in what the company said was a “complete transformation” of the vehicles.
“We’ve taken what people love about these pioneering SUVs and made them even better – adding more room for people and cargo, more advanced technology and an unrivaled driving experience,” Barry Engle, executive vice president and president, General Motors North America said.
To develop the new Tahoe and Suburban, GM integrated aspects of its full-size truck line with new features that it said were “tailored to the needs of today’s SUV drivers and passengers.”
New for 2021 is 66% more cargo room for the Tahoe and 19% more cargo space on the Suburban. A total of 10 additional inches was designed into the third-row legroom on the Tahoe as well. GM has also incorporated improved driving dynamics with enhanced suspensions systems and an entirely new interior complete with five display screens.
The vehicles also have new safety features such as GM’s Automatic Emergency Braking1, HD Surround Vision, and Rear Pedestrian Alert. Trailering cameras are also provided along with nine camera views.
Power on the Tahoe and Suburban isn’t lacking either as GM is offering an all-new 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine and updated V8 engines that are paired with a standard 10-speed automatic transmission with pushbutton electronic shift.
“With an increasing number of SUVs on the market, we knew the all-new Tahoe and Suburban needed to reach higher than ever,” Tim Herrick, vice president, global product programs said. “We transformed Tahoe and Suburban to offer all-new technologies and features and deliver a better driving experience, while staying true to the versatility and capability that have earned people’s trust for generations.”
GM said the new 2021 Tahoe and Suburban will be available in mid-2020 in North America.
Shares of GM stock were up 0.36% as of 3:42 p.m. EST on Wednesday.
