'GMA' Anchor George Stephanopoulos Positive For COVID-19: Will He Stay On The Show?
On Monday morning, "Good Morning America" anchor George Stephanopoulos revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19. This news came after his wife, comedian Ali Wentworth, had also contracted the novel coronavirus.
In his appearance on "GMA," Stephanopoulos told co-anchors Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan that, unlike Wentworth, he had not exhibited the typical symptoms associated with COVID-19.
After stating that it was "no surprise" that he had received a positive test due to the fact that he had been staying with his wife, he then shared that he believes he is "one of those cases that is basically asymptomatic."
"I’ve never had a fever, never had chills, never had a headache, never had cough, never had shortness of breath," he then revealed, adding that at this time he is "feeling great."
The co-anchor also gave viewers an update on Wentworth, who had once described her experience with the illness as "pure misery" on her Instagram. On Monday, Stephanopoulos shared that she is now doing "much, much better" and has achieved five days in a row without a fever. Additionally, he also revealed that she has started getting out of bed a bit more each day, which, he said they're really happy about.

After hearing that the political commentator had been personally affected by the ongoing pandemic, many "GMA" viewers likely wondered how that would affect his time on the morning news show moving forward.
According to ABC7, he does not intend to step away from his hosting duties as a result of testing positive. It was additionally reported that he will continue to appear during the morning broadcasts from his home.
Aside from the news about Stephanopoulos' show, other morning news shows have also been affected by the ongoing outbreak.
