Coachella and Stagecoach are just two months away, and ahead of the festivities, the event's organizer has changed up its COVID-19 guidelines for attendees.

Considering the festivals have been canceled for the past two years due to the pandemic, the organizer, Goldenvoice, is working to keep its COVID protocols up-to-date to ensure no cancelations for 2022.

Currently, both websites state that all COVID-19 restrictions will no longer be enforced “in accordance with local guidelines.” This includes “no vaccination, testing or masking requirements” for all concert-goers.

Regarding masks for the festivals, the policy states that masks are not required for COVID-19 reasons, but that they are recommended to protect against "desert dust."

After the official update to the policies on both of the festivals’ websites, the current requirements seem to be set in stone, however, the websites do have a note that the festivals are prepared to make any changes necessary until the event dates.

The websites also issue a COVID warning, which reads, "COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. There is an inherent and elevated risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place or place where people are present and there is no guarantee, express or implied, that those attending the festival will not be exposed to COVID-19."

It continues, stating, "According to the CDC, older adults and people of all ages with serious underlying medical conditions may be at higher risk of death or severe illness from COVID-19. All attendees should evaluate their risk in determining whether to attend the festival."

The announcement of the new policy is an update from the festival's original reversal announcement from October 2021, which informed people that they could attend the events with proof of a negative COVID-19 test instead of a required vaccine.

Coachella occurs on back-to-back weekends. The dates for 2022 are scheduled for April 15-17 and April 22-24, while Stagecoach is the following weekend from April 29-May 1.
