Golden Globes 2015: Reese Witherspoon Brings 'Wild' Author Cheryl Strayed As Red Carpet Date

Reese Witherspoon looked wildly gorgeous at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards as she rocked a shimmering, strapless Calvin Klein floor-length gown. But it wasn’t just the actress’ red carpet style that had us completely enamored. Instead, it was Witherspoon’s date at the star-studded event that had us leaning closer to our TV screens.

Witherspoon, who was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama for her portrayal in “Wild,” was accompanied by the Queen of PCT herself at the 2015 Golden Globes. Cheryl Strayed looked flawless in her Badgley Mischka gown as she struck a few fashionable poses during her E! News interview with Ryan Seacrest.

“Reese has given me a lot of tips,” the author said of Golden Globe-worthy poses.

But according to Strayed, she too has given Witherspoon her fair share of advice – at least when it came to hiking. Strayed revealed that the reason Witherspoon’s portrayal of a hiker looked so convincing was because she was the one who taught the actress how to backpack like a pro.

“I'd give Reese tons of advice about the character and backpacking, and teaching her how to do this, that, and the other thing. The art department looked at pictures of my family and the prop people took my backpack. The gear I had on the trail—I have most of it still—they re-created for the film,” the actress previously said during an interview with Mother Jones.

Witherspoon then added in the E! News interview that “Wild” was so moving that when she finished the book (in less then 48 hours) she just wanted to wrap her arms around the inspiring author for her touching story and bravery.

“[I said] I don’t know who you are but I want to hug you!” Witherspoon elaborated on her initial reaction to meeting Strayed.
