‘The Good Place’ EP Michael Schur Teases Season 1 Finale
Things are going to get uncanny in the final two Season 1 episodes of “The Good Place.”
In a recent interview with the New York Times, series creator and executive producer Michael Schur said that episodes 12 and 13 of the season are “very weird.” Although Schur chose not to expound further, he did reveal that the show’s main story will “actually leave” the confines of the neighborhood by the end of the one-hour finale.
When asked if the events in the finale point toward a future for the show, Schur said: “If anyone is wondering what would theoretically happen in a Season 2, I think you’ll get your answer [in the finale].”
NBC has yet to renew “The Good Place” for a second season, but Schur told Collider earlier this month that he already has some ideas for a potential sophomore run of the afterlife series.
“I have some ideas for what could happen in Season 2, and even beyond that,” said Schur who also co-created NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” and FOX’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” “That’s just because a show like this, that is very plot intensive with big cliffhangers, if you don’t keep following through and finding ways to surprise the audience and develop the idea, then people are just going to lose interest.”
“You set yourself a certain pace, and if you can’t maintain that pace, you’re going to be in trouble,” he continued. “So, I’m always trying to look ahead and at least have some idea of what I could do down the line that’s going to be interesting.”
“The Good Place” Season 1 finale airs tonight at 8 p.m. EST on NBC. Read the synopses for episodes 12 and 13, titled “Mindy St. Clair” and “Michael’s Gambit,” respectively, below:
