‘The Good Place’ Season 1 Spoilers: Episode 3 Synopsis Released Online; What Will Happen In ‘Tahani Al-Jamil’? [VIDEOS]
Eleanor Shellstrop’s (Kristen Bell) road to righteousness isn’t going to be easy.
Still feeling bad for causing a garbage storm in the second half of the back-to-back premiere of “The Good Place,” the not-so-noble Eleanor — a deceased saleswoman, who entered the afterlife after being mistaken for a lawyer — ended up cleaning the whole neighborhood without actually knowing it. Eleanor’s remorse led Chidi Anagonye (William Jackson Harper) to realize that she’s capable of change, so he decided to help her become a moral person before someone figures out that she doesn’t really belong to the Good Place.
According to the synopsis for Season 1, Episode 3, titled “Tahani Al-Jamil,” Chidi will formally start teaching Eleanor about ethics . For their first lesson, the former professor of moral philosophy tries to help Eleanor understand and practice the moral code of being kind to one’s neighbor.
As revealed in the promo clip for the episode, the installment will center on Eleanor’s relationship with her neighbor Tahani (Jameela Jamil), whom she is jealous of. As seen in the premiere episodes, Eleanor has this poorly concealed envy for Tahani’s palatial manor, which dwarfs her tiny little house. The antihero also called Tahani a “condescending b—tch” and a “cartoon giraffe” after accusing the wealthy woman of purposively choosing to have a unique accent.
While it remains to be seen whether or not Eleanor will eventually learn the essence of her first lesson from Chidi, the preview clip suggests that Bell’s character will again make a bad choice in the episode, as sinkholes begin to appear in the neighborhood.
Aside from Chidi helping Eleanor become a moral being, the synopsis for the episode also revealed that Michael (Ted Danson) and Janet Della-Denunzio (D'Arcy Carden) are going to assist Chidi in finding a new hobby. See the sneak peek for the episode below:
