“The Good Place” Season 2 will premiere a week earlier than originally planned.

The sophomore run of the Michael Schur-created series, which was initially set to premiere on Thursday, Sept. 28, will now debut with an hour-long episode on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 10 p.m. EDT. The show’s new premiere date will follow the two-hour season finale of summer juggernaut “America’s Got Talent.”

The comedy, which stars Ted Danson and Kristen Bell, will then move into its regular Thursday 8:30 p.m. time slot the following week on Sept.28.

This isn’t the first time “The Good Place” has had a post-reality show season launch. As Deadline pointed out, the afterlife series got off to a strong ratings start with a one-hour 10 p.m. preview following the Season 11 premiere of “The Voice” last fall.

Plot details about the upcoming Season 2 of “The Good Place” are being kept under wraps, but Schur assured fans that the show won’t be repeating itself in its sophomore run even though Michael (Danson) will basically just continue torturing Eleanor (Bell), Chidi (William Jackson Harper), Tahani (Jameela Jamil) and Jason (Manny Jacinto) next season.

“[Michael is] going for a different thing now,” Schur told Entertainment Weekly last March. “He says … that the problem was that they all spent too much time together too quickly, so he’s going to spread them out, give them each a different soulmate, torture them individually for a while, and then slowly bring them together. … He can’t just torture them individually, because what’s the point? The fun of it — the game of it — is getting them to the point where they torture each other.”

As to what fans can expect from her character in Season 2, Bell previously told The Hollywood Reporter that viewers are going to see a “complete reset of Eleanor” next season. Although the actress didn’t offer any plot details at the time, she said that the upcoming installment “will be fun and just as explosive” as Season 1. “It is crazy,” she added. “I just kept asking, ‘How are you even going to show that? How did you think of that?’ I’m so impressed with our writer’s room.”
