'The Good Wife' Star Julianna Margulies Shares Disturbing Encounter With Steven Seagal
Julianna Margulies once had a disturbing encounter with Steven Seagal.
On Friday, the "Good Wife" star opened up to Jenny Hutt during an interview on SiriusXM about her encounter with the actor years ago. Margulies revealed that Seagal invited her to his hotel room when she was much younger and made sure that she saw his gun.
"When I was 23, a casting director, a woman, said, 'Well, Steven Seagal wants to go over the scene with you in his hotel room at 10 o'clock at night,'" Margulies said (via Us Weekly). "And I lived in Brooklyn, and I said, 'Oh, I don't do that. I don't travel. I don't have money for a cab.' And I didn't. And I said, 'And I don't take subways late at night.' And she says, 'Don't worry, we'll reimburse you. And I'm here.'"
The "ER" alum said she arrived at Segal's hotel room at around 10 in the evening, but the casting director was not around. She found herself alone with Seagal. "Alone. And he made sure that I saw his gun, which I had never seen a gun in real life," Margulies added. "And I got out of there unscathed. It's a long story … but I never was raped, and I never was harmed, and I don't know how I got out of that hotel room. It always starts with, 'I'm a healer, I want to massage you.' I sort of squirmed my way out."
Margulies added that due to her encounter with Seagal, she refused to meet Harvey Weinstein in his hotel room unless her assistant was with her. The "Ghost Ship" star confessed that the film mogul also once invited her to his hotel room.
She recalled that there had been candles lit and a dinner for two. When Weinstein saw that her assistant had come along with her, he became furious. The producer told her that she had a great audition and slammed the door. She never got the role.
A number of celebrities have already come forward to reveal Weinstein's alleged sexual misconducts. Kate Beckinsale confessed that she turned down Weinstein's advances multiple times and her refusal to sleep with him had harmed her career.
In addition, "Game of Thrones" star Lena Headey experienced the same inappropriate behavior from Weinstein. She never gave in to his advances, but the encounter made her feel powerless. "At one point Harvey asked me to take a walk down to the water, I walked down with him and he stopped and made some suggestive comment, a gesture, I just laughed it off, I was genuinely shocked, I remember thinking, it's got to be a joke, I said something like ..oh come on mate?!?? It'd be like kissing my dad !! let's go get a drink, get back to the others. I was never in any other Miramax film," she wrote in a series of tweets.
