Apple and Google are still in dispute with only a day left before Apples’ September Event 2019. The said feud is due to the alleged false impression that the latter created to the public against the Cupertino tech giant.

Apple released a statement on Friday describing Google’s way of reporting vulnerabilities to the public as a false impression. The Cupertino tech giant went on to describe that the act stoked fear to the iPhone users and that is was narrowly focused.

How The Trouble Began

Google’s report on iPhone security flaw surfaced the internet through a blog post by Google's Project Zero. The blog post exposed certain vulnerabilities that the team found in iPhone operating systems. The tech giant even specified that the scope of the vulnerability goes as far as from iOS 10 to the recent iOS 12 updates.

On the said blog post, Google warned the users that clicking a malicious website could pose a serious risk to Apple customers’ iPhone devices. The tech giant specified that vulnerability makes its way in through the campaign to exploit "iPhones en masse" for two years.

The research further talked about a monitoring implant that can be acquired through a website that they found visited a thousand times. This gives hackers access to user privacy.

Google’s blog post describes the vulnerability as mass exploitation and the monitoring of the entire population’s real-time private activities. The news has become one major area of concern as iPhone users began to have suspicions that their devices could have been compromised.

Apple’s Response to the Blog Post

A part of Apple’s statement strongly reaffirmed that what Google’s Project Zero revealed was never the case. The company stated that they already started the fixing process on the exploited bugs before Google called their attention out to raise the vulnerability issue.

Apple also opposed Google’s declaration on the attack duration. The iPhone maker clarified that the website attackers last for almost two months, not two years as Google declared.

What Google Has To Say

Google stood firm on Google Project Zero’s findings saying that their research was written to focus on the vulnerabilities’ technical aspects. They added that they will continue to work with Apple and other companies to help keep the online safety of the people.

September 10 is one important date for Apple as the company is set to launch a new line of iPhones.
