By now you may have heard that Google made its latest foray into the social sphere this past week, bringing a fresh new take on an age old concept.

While Google+ is creating plenty of buzz now, what you may not know is that this isn't Google's first attempt at creating a social network. Its one of many -- and most have died horrible deaths.

In fact many companies have tried social networks in the past decade and most end with the same fate.

With the recent buzz surrounding Google+, and in light of the recent IPO of Linked-In, and pending IPO of Facebook, its worth taking a look back through the years and seeing some of the more higher profiles crash and burns of social-networking.
