Amid the current global health crisis, tech companies are still actively developing innovations for their upcoming products. A recent announcement from a tech company may have just revealed the chipset of the Google Pixel 5, according to the new report. Based on the new information, the industry could draw out some ideas on the performance and capability of the next generation flagship smartphone from Google.
As per Tom’s Guide, a recent announcement from Qualcomm may have revealed the CPU of the Google Pixel 5. While the site is clear that it not yet confirmed, it claimed that the recent announcement of Qualcomm, along with several leaks and rumors online, offered a better and more defined picture of what the next flagship smartphone from Google would be like. On May 11, 2020, Qualcomm officially launched its latest chipset with 5G support called the Snapdragon 768G.
The new SoC is an overclocked version of the Qualcomm 765G that is anticipated to offer a slightly better GPU and CPU performance. While the new SoC that might be in the upcoming Google Pixel 5 is based on the 7nm process like the SD 765G, the latest chipset is a lot faster, according to Phone Arena. The new SoC has a Kyro 475 processor core and offers a higher clock speed of up to 2.8 GHz from the 2.4 GHz that the SD 765 offers.
Apart from those, the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G comes with an Adreno 620 GPU that provides 15 percent more performance boost in terms of graphics. Moreover, its graphics drivers could be updated, and it supports a 120 Hz display refresh rate. More importantly, the rumored CPU of the Google Pixel 5 is compatible with SD 765G.
In other words, manufacturers would no longer need to retool their next generation mid-range smartphones for the improved Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G chipset. The search engine giant Google has utilized top of the line Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series on its Pixel smartphones. It includes the SD 855 for the Google Pixel 4 and the SD 845 in the Google Pixel 3.
It is worth mentioning that the search engine giant has not yet confirmed or revealed the chipset of the Google Pixel 5. In this case, it is safer to take these details with a good measure of salt and with skepticism.
